115g (4oz) Caster Sugar (Granulates as alternative).
115 (4oz) butter (Margarine as alternative).
170g (60z) Self Raising Flour (or plain with a teaspoon of baking powder as alternative).

4oz/110g caster sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 egg
7fl oz/200ml milk
2oz/55g butter

12oz / 300g Demerarar Sugar (brown).
4oz / 100g butter (not margarine).
1 tablespoon of black treacle.
2 tablespoons of golden syrup.
4 tablespoons of water (room temperature).
Method
(1) Put all of the ingredients into a saucepan.
