Simple Realistic Cigarette Swift 3D Model Tutorial

Example:

FIRST OF ALL:

Open Swift 3D Version 6.
Set your environment and layout.
I have chose white background and 800 x 600.
2 view ports Front and Left have the Front active.

Step.1 (tobacco)

Click on Extrusion Editor and then click on Create Circle Path.
click on Scene Editor you will see something like the following.

Click on Advanced Modeller, Editing Mesh and select Face Selection, with the Front View Port Active select all the segments for that face shown below.

once you have selected all the segments click on Surface Groups and click Group Selected give the new face group a name of tobacco see below.

with the face selected click Extrude and select Z, see below.

now extrude inwards slightly to create a slight impression (this will be the over hang of the cigarette paper) see below.

Step.2 (cigarette paper)

back in the Scene Editor click on Extrusion Editor, Click on Create Circle Path and then click back to the Scene Editor,
click on scale and make the z factor 5.00 move in to place at the side of the first extrusion, see below.

Step.3 (gold strip)

back in the Scene Editor click on Extrusion Editor, Click on Create Circle Path and then click back to the Scene Editor,
click on scale and make the z factor 0.10 move in to place at the side of the first extrusion, see below.

Step.4 (filter tip)

back in the Scene Editor click on Extrusion Editor, Click on Create Circle Path and then click back to the Scene Editor,
click on scale and make the z factor 1.80 move in to place at the side of the first extrusion, see below.

OK that’s the cigarette done made of 4 sections all we have to do now is to group together, resize and texture.

Adding Materials in Swift 3D

Click on Setup | Materials | Add Material you will see the following window.

to add a bitmap or jpg image select Bitmap Image from the drop down box in colours and patterns and select your image if you want a bump map do the same for that too.
see below.

click on OK, the drag the material to the part of the model you wish to texture, so the tobacco would go on the tobacco extrusion and so on, see below.

See below for the texture I have used in this tutorials.
