Bring any image with water alive with a few easy steps.
above image was downloaded from
www.sxc.hu fro the purpose of this tutorial.
First Of All
Open up swishmax set the stage width and height, for the sake of the tutorial i have chosen a width of 363px x 484x and the frame rate is set to 25 fps.
Once you have done that you can download the images that go with the tutorial Here
then you need to download and install Sqirlz free water relfection Here
create a project folder on your hard-drive and unpack the zip file into it.
Step.1
Import waterfall-photo.png into the movie from the project folder, once you have the image imorted into the movie. proceed to import water-mask.png into the movie also from the project folder.
and align it inplace with the same image on the photo. see fig.1 below

Step.2
using the Rectangle Tool drag out a rectangle that covers the water on the falls but not very deep, repeat this untill you have covered the falls, also make sure the water-mask is placed above the rectangles. see fig.2 below.
Now group the rectangles together as a shape and name Fall.
Step.3
Group water-mask.png and Fall together as a sprite and name falling water. click on the sprite to expand it and check the box that says use bottom object as mask, the bottom object being fall. Now on the timeline place a move action over 17 frames, now using the arrow keys move the Fall shape down untill the top rectangle is level with the top of the falls se fig.3 below

Step.4
Time to open Sqirlz free water reflection
when sqirlz is open, import the ripples image and mark out the edges of the water with the selection tool, see fig.4 below.Select basic ripple (C) and export as animated Gif, name the file as ripples.gif
